Pune: The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a Deemed-to-be University in Pune, celebrated DIAT World Students Day with a special lecture by Dr A Sivathanu Pillai, Founder CEO and Managing Director of BrahMos Aerospace, renowned as the Father of BrahMos.
The celebration of DIAT World Students Day commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam – the Missile Man of India and revered Teacher of the Nation.
The event was held under the institute’s Distinguished Lecture Series and featured a thought-provoking session by Dr. Pillai on the theme “Audacity of Vision & Leadership.”

During his address, Dr. Pillai – recipient of the Padma Shri (2002), Padma Bhushan (2013), and the Order of Friendship by the Russian Federation (2014) – shared reflections from his illustrious career in aerospace and defence.
He underscored the significance of innovation, courage, and visionary leadership as essential elements of nation-building.

DIAT Vice-Chancellor Dr BHVS Narayana Murthy felicitated Dr. Pillai and urged students to follow the ideals of Dr. Kalam and Dr. Pillai. He emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, and technological excellence in shaping a self-reliant India.
